Limericks from the 3eme5

Limericks are famous Irish poems which must follow these rules:
  • A limerick must be funny!

  • A limerick must tell a story (although it will be quite short!)

  • A limerick must have 5 lines.

  • A limerick must have a rhyme scheme of aabba.

  • A limerick has a specific rhythm.  The a-lines should have 5 feet, while the b-lines have only 3 feet.

The 3eme5 studied this form of poetry on Saint Patrick's Day and their task was to invent one themselves. It was not easy to respect all the rules but here are some of them:

there was  a beautiful girl who played classical music
with 2 friends in the night club called "Basics".
When they started singing
people started dancing
and the famous girls shouted: " this is fantastic!"

The man was a lord,
he killed with  a word.
he had a good vocabulary
for he was a dictionary
but one day he died from a sword!

there was a girl who was a prisoner
she was so pretty so I helped her
then she thanked me and ran away
but I think about her everyday
Iknow she could fulfill my every desire

There was a good firefighter
who didn't start a fire
he arrived with his plate
but he was much too late
the fire was already minor!
